Jesus is saying those who truly know Him will bear the fruit or evidence of His love in their lives by actions and not merely words. Yet He is also sternly warning those who merely focus on actions for Him, without a relationship with Him.

Friends, Jesus is saying, “If you want to avoid having a judgmental spirit… if you want to live out His ways of love in His Kingdom now… and if you want to keep the world and younger generations from having to say, “Where’s the love?,” then…

The younger generations, both inside and outside the church, are asking this same question. You see, the world, and younger generations especially, have some expectations of us! No matter how much it seems like they dismiss God or outright disregard Him; the reality is, when life gets hard, they look at God and they look at us and they say… “Where is the love?”

What many have not yet realized is that the Gospel of the Kingdom is subversive to the broken, sinful human systems of this world, which God is restoring back under His reign of love.

What if you read all of Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, through the lens of the Gospel? How would this radically transform your life in 2020?

Now just think of how absurd it sounded to the disciples, and how absurd it sounds to us, to hear Jesus say, while the storm is still ragging all around, “Be of good cheer!” Yet…

Not only did Jesus have concern for the physical storm they were in, but He was also concerned about the one going on in their minds, so He drew closer to them.

How do you make it through the next storm when it doesn’t seem like God is going to stop it?

God is love and passionately lavishes His love on us in order save every human on earth if they turn to Jesus in trust. However, flowing from this same heart of infinite love is justice for the oppressed, marginalized, immigrant, poor, violated, children harmed in any manner or any of the most vulnerable of society.

 Interpreting Revelation 13:11 to only mean that the lamb-like beast (USA) “will speak” like a dragon sometime in the future, when it only pertains to persecuting us, blinds us to the historical and present fact that it has been “speaking” like a dragon (while trying to appear lamb-like/Christian) since its inception...

In the desperate actions of these friends of the paralyzed man, Jesus saw the very thing that His love awakens in us that permits His power to be released in our lives…

What happens when we actually recognize that the power of the Lord is present to heal?

I believe God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit were in tears by this point. Then Jesus, who would eventually be the real sacrifice, wiping the tears from His face, says, “I’ll tell him.”
