Scene 2

The love They shared was so intense that it had to be shared and thus They created the heavens and the earth; a universe to be inhabited by creatures that would freely reciprocate Their rhythm of love. The crowning act of this creation was to make humanity in Their image of love. God dwelt with humanity in unbroken fellowship.

Scene 3

Tragically, the atmosphere of love was broken in heaven when a rebellion was ignited by Lucifer against God’s character of love. This rebellion moves to earth and humanity believes the lie and falls into sin and suffering. Now humanity, God’s children, would be separated from face to face fellowship with Him.

Scene 4

God, longing for His children to be fully restored to Him, in Genesis 3:15, promises to rescue them through the Seed, or descendant of the woman. This becomes His first covenantal promise to humanity. This promise gets enlarged after the flood, when He preserves humanity through Noah and his family in the ark. The rainbow becomes a sign of His covenant promise to never flood the earth again. After the tower of Babel incident, humanity begins to scatter and spread out over the planet. God, still longing to redeem humanity, calls Abraham out of Mesopotamia and expands the previous promises by making a covenant with Abraham to give him land, descendants and that in his seed all nations of the earth will be blessed. This covenant reveals that God’s heart was still passionate about redeeming all humanity through the descendants of Abraham. The story continues until we see Abraham’s descendants at Mt. Sinai where God gives Israel the Law of the Covenant. He has just delivered them from Egyptian bondage and is, in essence, proposing to Israel as a nation. They enter into a covenant relationship that He is ultimately longing to have with all nations! And now that they have been reintroduced to their Divine Husband, God is longing to be with them.

Scene 5

And as the Old Testament closes Israel is still left waiting. You, the reader are still left waiting. And God is still waiting. Then as you continue the story into the New Testament, God is in essence letting you know the wait is over. In the fullness of time Jesus enters the scene of human history as the Seed of the woman, the Seed of Abraham, the messianic Seed of David, the one who would come and fulfill the covenant and save humanity. Through His life, death and resurrection the love of God was put on full display, the Kingdom of Heaven was brought to earth and victory was gained where both Israel and humanity failed.
