Worship 101 Part 2

Now as the vision of Isaiah continues to unfold, he is gripped by what is initially a very uncomfortable reality in verse 5…

So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.”
— Isaiah 6:5 NKJV

As Isaiah stands there in the awesome presence of Yahweh, he learns that…

True worship leads to conviction and confession of sin

Now that Isaiah has seen the glory of the real King, he is fast becoming aware of something else. His sin.

Wasn’t this the experience of Peter after Jesus performed the miracle of the fish that filled his boat to overflowing? Peter fell down at the feet of Jesus in Luke 5:8 saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”  This is the experience that Aunty Ellen was referring to in Steps to Christ, when she says, “The closer you come to Jesus, the more faulty you will appear in your own eyes; for your vision will be clearer, and your imperfections will be seen in broad and distinct contrast to His perfect nature. This is evidence that Satan's delusions have lost their power; that the vivifying influence of the Spirit of God is arousing you.” Isaiah said woe is me for I am undone!

You may feel this way when you come into the presence of Jesus both in private and public worship. But this is not to discourage you. It is the same loving God, the Holy Spirit, convicting you of known sin. He wants you like Isaiah to confess it and repent. Why? Because He wants you to discover what Isaiah discovered in verse 6 & 7…
